1. General Information
The Institute of Environment Management was established in 2005. Its predecessor, the Institute of Environmental Sciences of Beijing Normal University, was very famous in the EIA and Environmental Planning domain. China’s first EIA and its first “International Conference on EIA” were organized by it. The Institute has received China’s A-class qualification for EIAs and SEAs. In recent years it has made breakthrough progress in the field of REIAs and SEAs.
2. Research interests
The Institute carries out research, teaching and consulting in environmental assessment, planning and management, environmental system engineering, 3S technology in environmental Science, Environmental Information Systems, environment economy and policy and so on.

Dr Zeng graduated in 1987 and got his Ph.D from the department of environmental engineering, Tsinghua University, in 1996. His areas of research interest include Environmental System Engineering, Environmental Planning and Management, Environmental Informatics, Environmental Disasters, and Water Resources and the Environment in River Basins. He has been involved in more than 40 scientific research projects. Over 70 research papers and 3 books of his have been published.

Dr Li received his Ph.D from the Institute of Environmental Sciences (Environmental Science), Beijing Normal University in 1997. His areas of research interest are Environmental Assessment and Planning, Energy and the Environment, Environmental Economics and Environmental Policy and Management. He has been involved in more than 50 scientific research projects. Over 80 research papers and 5 books os his have been published

Prof. Mao Xianqiang received his Ph.D from the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Beijing Normal University (1998). His research interests include Environmental and Natural Economics, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Planning and Environmental Policy and Management. He conducted his Postdoc studies at the Department of Economics, Simon Fraser University, Canada (2001-2002), and was a visiting scholar at Sussex University, UK (1998-1999).
Dr. Hongguang Chen, associate professor chg@bnu.edu.cn
Dr. Chen received his PhD from the School of Environment of Beijing Normal University in 2001. His research interests include Non-point Source Pollution Simulation, Environmental Planning and Management, Protection and Planning of Water Resources and Simulation of the Water Environment. He has been involved in more than 20 scientific research projects. He has (co-)authored over 50 refereed journal articles, about 20 international conference papers and 3 books.
Dr. Junwei Ma, associate professor jwma@bnu.edu.cn
Dr. Ma got her PhD from the School of Material and Metallurgy of Northeastern University in 2000. Her main research and teaching interests include treatment, disposal and resource utilization of solid waste and environmental impact assessment, focusing particularly on landfill technology and pollution control, resource utilization of solid waste and sludge reduction technology. She has been involved in several research projects, and over 30 research papers and 4 books of hers have been published.

Dr. Li received his Ph.D in Ecological Science from the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2000. His research interests include Biodiversity Conservation Planning for large scale patterns and systems, Wetland Ecological Planning and Wetland Management, Land Use and Landscape Planning.
Dr. Jianbin Shi, associate professor, jianbin.shi@gmail.com
Dr. Shi received his Ph.D in Ecological Sciences from the University of Liverpool in 2003. His research interests include wild animal ecology, wild animal management, conservation biology, environmental management policies, especially the protection of biodiversity, management policy, biodiversity response and adaptation to climate change, and effects assessment on biodiversity in project EIA and SEA.

Dr. Liu received his PhD in Environmental Sciences from Peking University in 2005. His research interests are in strategic environmental assessment, environmental planning, environmental risk measurement, and mass movement hazard zonation. He has published research papers in Geomorphology and Journals of Basic Science and Engineering (in Chinese). Recently he has been involved in the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China and got a grant from the Natural Sciences Fund of China.
